Located in 26 miles
south of Taunggyi the capital of Shan State, Kakku is the unusual and magnificent collection of Buddhist Stupas. There are about 2000 stupas which link together into a tight system and apparently seperate from the outside world.

Visitors can get here by the land route for tour groups starting from Taunggyi, which is possible and accessible for all year round. Another way is following the Inle Lake travel route before the rainy season. In the annual religious festival, Kakku also attracts
thousands of tourists.
