《Alpha Girl : Understanding the New American Girl and How She Is Changing the World》这本书中指出，美国约有20%的女生感受不到自己是“女性”，他们在社会上的活动从未因自己是女性而受到限制，彻底打破了女人在社会上生活处于不利地位的传统社会观念。据作者分析，这是由于男女平等思想普及后，这些少女是在完全平等的环境中长大，因而出现了“Alpha Girl”。80年代以后出生的女性，这种现象较为突出。
