The basic commands that you must execute to install a MySQL source
distribution are:
shell> groupadd mysql
shell> useradd -g mysql mysql
shell> tar -zxvf mysql-4.1.22.tar.gz
shell> cd mysql-4.1.22
shell> ./configure --prefix=/usr/local/mysql --localstatedir=/data
shell> make
shell> make install
shell> cp support-files/my-medium.cnf /etc/my.cnf
shell> cd /usr/local/mysql
shell> bin/mysql_install_db --user=mysql
shell> chown -R root .
shell> chown -R mysql /data
shell> chgrp -R mysql .
shell> bin/mysqld_safe --user=mysql &
shell> bin/mysqladmin -p shutdown
建立启动执行命令msyqld
#cp mysql-4.1.22/support-files/mysql.server /etc/rc.d/init.d/mysqld
#chmod +x /etc/rc.d/init.d/mysqld
#/etc/rc.d/init.d/mysqld start
加入自动启动
# chkconfig –add mysqld
修改root的密码
#mysqladmin -uroot password 123456
依赖的开发包安装
#yum install gcc
#yum install glib
#yum install gcc-c++
#yum install esound-devel
#yum install ncurses-devel
